Crowns and bridges replace severely damaged, aesthetically unacceptable, or missing teeth.
Metal-Ceramic Crowns
The framework of the crown is made of high-quality metal, which is galvanized with gold to prevent allergies, and several layers of ceramic are applied to the framework. The visible part of the crown or bridge is covered with ceramic.
Zirconia Ceramic Crowns
The framework of the crown or bridge is made of zirconia. Zirconia is a newer material on the market that provides a more natural appearance of the prosthetic restoration compared to metal-ceramic crowns. The framework is manufactured using CAD/CAM technology. CAD/CAM is not a new type of ceramic but a special system for processing zirconia blocks. These blocks are milled to create perfectly shaped frameworks for crowns and bridges. CAD/CAM involves computer-aided design and manufacturing, resulting in a precise prosthetic restoration.
INLAY/ONLAY Ceramic Fillings
These are aesthetic fillings made from pure ceramic, used for posterior teeth. After the tooth is prepared, a three-dimensional digital design is created, and the dentist sends the order to the milling unit, where the inlay is quickly produced. The color of the inlay naturally matches the patient’s teeth.
Empress Ceramic Crowns
Empress crowns are fully ceramic crowns (designed for a high level of aesthetics) and are most commonly used for front teeth. The translucency of the ceramic allows for a natural tooth-like appearance. The strength of these crowns is achieved by applying high pressure during the fabrication process.
